Late/Absence Procedures
Please refer to the below information regarding our late and absence procedures. This information can be found in our Attendance Policy.
Attendance Policy
Your child CAN come into school as normal if they have one of the following: | |
Illness/Complaint | Notes |
Cold | Your child can attend school. Staff will monitor your child and will contact you should there be any change or deterioration in their condition. |
General tiredness / feeling unwell | |
Minor Cough | |
Conjunctivitus | Your child can attend school. Please treat the condition immediately and inform the school of the condition so that they are aware. *Headlice - when your child returns to school after having treatment for headlice please take them to the Welfare Room who will inspect their hair before they go back into class. |
Hand Foot and Mouth Disease | |

Tonsilitus | |
Ringworm / Threadworm | Seek medical advice at your GP. Condition must be diagnosed by a GP. Your child can attend school. Please treat the condition immediately and inform the school of the condition so that they are aware. |
Sore throat | Your child can attend school. |
Cold Sore |
Your child CANNOT attend school if they have one of the following: | |

Diarrhoea (Upset stomach) | Pupil cannot return to school until 24 hours after the last episode. If it continues for longer than 24 hours please contact your GP for advice. Please inform the school of the condition so that they are aware. |
Vomiting | |
Impetigo | Seek medical advice at your GP. Condition must be diagnosed by a GP. Child can return to school once the lesions have scabbed over and after starting antibiotic treatment. Please inform the school of the condition so that they are aware. |
Rash | Seek medical advice at your GP. Condition must be diagnosed by a GP. Please inform the school of the condition so that they are aware. |
Scarlet Fever | Seek medical advice at your GP. Condition must be diagnosed by a GP. Child can return to school 24 hours after starting antibiotic treatment. Please inform the school of the condition so that they are aware. |

Chickenpox | Seek medical advice at your GP. Condition must be diagnosed by a GP. Pupil requires a 6 day absence period from onset of rash. |

Please note - our Welfare Staff can only give medication to children that have been prescribed by a Doctor. They will need proof of this.
